The 1,460 acres of shoreline is owned by the City of Abbeville.
The lake has many private residences along the shoreline and property owners continue to improve and have chosen Lake Secession as their permanent residence.
There is a new subdivision on Lake Secession - lake front and lake interior lots. Lake Secession is used for municipal power production.

Casey Ashley mentors Dixie High Youth Bass Federation Club
Local anglers from Dixie High School, Cherokee Trail Elementary, Wright Middle School and Diamond Hill Elementary along with the mentoring of Casey Ashley, local professional bass angler, have organized a Dixie High School Youth Bass Federation Club. This group is being promoted by the SC Department of Natural Resources and The Bass Federation.

Parents and sponsors with to thank Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cann for their efforts supporting the Dixie Bass Club. Their home has been the gathering place for cook-outs and weighing-in. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Cann.
On his very first turkey hunt, Parker Cann shot a 17.5 lb. turkey. He was hunting with Mr. Bill Hiback.
